Overview
At UT Medical Center, we understand medical expenses are often unexpected. Therefore, we offer trained and knowledgeable staff to assist and educate you through the billing process. From insurance coverage, financial assistance, and estimates, our dedicated staff are here to help. UT Medical Center accepts many insurance plans and offers payment plans on patient responsible balances. If you are uninsured or underinsured, you may qualify for our Financial Assistance Program. If you have questions or need assistance regarding your bill or to make payment plans, please call 865-251-4400 or 888-354-4778 to speak to a Patient Account Representative.

Explanation of Patient Responsibility
UT Medical Center files insurance claims for patients as a courtesy with the understanding that the patient/guarantor has full responsibility for payment of the bill. Other patient responsibilities include providing complete and accurate information, contacting us with insurance changes, understanding your insurance benefits, and providing information requested by your insurance carrier in a timely manner.

Please contact your insurance regarding coverage and benefits. Charges not paid or covered by your insurance may become your responsibility.

      o Cash, check, money orders, traveler’s checks, electronic checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover
      o Online at www.utmedicalcenter.org under Pay A Bill
      o Approved payment plans

Payment Plans
UT Medical Center offers a variety of payment options to assist our patients with meeting their financial obligations. To set up a payment plan, please call 865-251-4400 or 888-354-4778 to speak to a Patient Account Representative.

Charges Billed Separately
In addition to your hospital bill, you may receive bills from physicians for professional services rendered at University Health Systems, Inc. For your convenience, we have listed these physician groups below with their telephone numbers.

Financial Assistance
UT Medical Center provides both uninsured and underinsured patients financial assistance options for medically necessary health care services provided by University Health Systems, Inc. employed providers. UT Medical Center’s Discounts and Financial Assistance Programs include uninsured discounts, presumptive charity, and financial assistance based on Federal Poverty Income Guidelines (FPIG). Our Discounts & Financial Assistance Policy, Application and Plain Language Summary can be found under the Financial Resources and Assistance tab on this page, by calling (865)-251-4400 or visiting UT Medical Center’s Admission and Patient Registration service desks, or through a written request mailed to UT Medical Center Financial Assistance Program PO Box 32749 Knoxville, TN 37930. Eligibility for assistance may vary and patients are responsible for completing a Financial Assistance Application along with providing any necessary documentation to process the application.

Pricing Estimates
We’re pleased to offer price estimates through our online self-service estimation tool and through our financial counseling team. In just a few simple steps, you can create an estimate of your out-of-pocket costs for many common procedures and services.
